The Role:

 

The Data Analyst/Data Scientist leverages their expertise in statistical programming and data management to gather appropriate data, conduct statistical analysis and provide insights to the company. This position will be part of a technical team that does complex analysis for strategic decisions and works with cross-functional partners, including Executives, on a wide range of complex problems. In this role, you would use your knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and predictive modeling to help analyze trends and improve forecasts to inform strategic business decisions.

Day to Day:

 

  • Responsible for gathering appropriate data, validating, analyzing and producing reports.
  • Develops code to pull data and develop documentation to be able to replicate the process.
  • Leverages statistical programming skills to process large data sets and apply machine learning and pattern recognition algorithms.
  • Be responsible for data reliability and integrity.
  • Develops forecasts and maintains analytical tools and databases required to support long-term planning and other strategic decision support needs.
  • Manages and maintains data from internal and external data sources.
  • Leads the framing of business questions, identification of information needs, and development of research/data analysis plans. 
  • Serves as a company-wide resource for strategic planning and analysis and provides recommendations on research insights and data analysis.
  • Provides information and testimony for presentation to regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical or statistical concepts to a nontechnical audience 
  • Demonstrates appropriate leadership and decision-making behaviors; maintains technical job knowledge and personal skill development.  

Come on your first day with:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (Statistics, Math, Operations Research, Computer Science or similar field) and 3+ years in relevant technical discipline. Additional years’ experience required for a level 3. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Highly proficient in SQL.
  • Highly proficient in SAS/Stata/R or other statistical programming applications.
  • Proven ability to apply modern data exploration and machine learning algorithms. 
  • Proven ability in gathering data from different sources and formats and compiling it for ease of analysis.
  • Effective verbal communication skills on an individual and group presentation basis, including negotiation and facilitation skills and techniques.
  • Experience creating compelling presentations using data visualization software and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-managed, organize time/projects and apply skills in problem solving and decision-making, as well as the ability to facilitate and coordinate projects, resources and personnel.
  • Knowledge of electric and natural gas systems is preferred.

Base salary range: $79,500.00 - $109,100.00 (Level 2) or $96,000.00 - $136,800.00 (Level 3) per year, depending on qualifications

Annual Target Incentive: Level 2, 9.5% target
                                           Level 3, 9.5% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% – 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
